Visual Studio supports deployment of a solution to a range of servers. In order to deploy solutions with components that need to be installed and registered on the server to Windows NT machines running Internet Information Server 3.0 or 4.0, you must first install Internet Explorer 4.0 and Posting Acceptor 2.0 on the server machine. This is only required for components that have to be registered on the server, and is not required for components that are used on the server machine (from Active Server Pages, for example).

The purpose of this option is to allow you to debug your script and Java code even when it is running on a remote machine. The situation might come up if you deploy Java COM objects or if they write ASP applications that run on a remote Web server. Once this option is installed on a machine and the appropriate permissions are enabled, you can attach from their own desktop and debug the code while it is running remotely. The feature requires DCOM support on both machines.
